Abstract(s) :

(Anglais) Fresnoite glass-ceramic is a piezoelectric material that does not have a Curie temperature, because its macroscopic polarization is the result of a crystallographic orientation along its polar axis. This orientation is created by the surface crystallization of a glass belonging to the Ba-Sr-Ti-Si-K-B-O system during an isothermal treatment. Fresnoite glass-ceramics are predicted to be used in high temperature sensors and actuators, but the surface crystallization of these materials is difficult and not fully understood yet. The main problems are the appearance of a non-piezoelectric volume crystallization and the tilt of the oriented planes within the surface crystallization. To control the crystallization step, that is to say to avoid volume crystallization and plane tilt, compositions containing different amounts of Ba and Sr are studied. Glass samples of different compositions and surface roughnesses are placed in a powder bed in order to obtain a homogeneous interface. The influence of powder, roughness, and composition on crystallization and orientation are observed over depth.
