Abstract(s) :

(Anglais) The sagae connection as a wood to wood connection has been used in traditional wood frame buildings in Korea. Although the connection survived with the traditional buildings for almost thousand years, the actual design value and the specification for the fabrication were not provided for the modern architect and constructor. Therefore, the goal of this study was to analyze the moment carrying capacity of the traditional joint called “sagae”. Cyclic loading was applied to measure the load and moment carrying capacities of the connection. Failure behaviors associated with different stress distributions in two beams and one column were evaluated using the finite element method (FEM). The moment carrying capacity of the sagae connection from the FEM was validated from the results of experimental test. Design values for the sage connection will be provided with the specification.
