Abstract(s) :

(Anglais) In this doctoral dissertation, we are interested in decision problems that occur in a geographic context. More precisely, we are dealing with the following question: how to help a decision maker to express his/her preferences over maps representing, for example, the state of a region at different stages of an evolution? This issue was first addressed in the doctoral dissertation of Metchebon(2010) and motivated by a real-world problem, namely the degradation of the soils and the vegetation in a watershed in north-central Burkina Faso. He proposed a first model to represent the decision maker's preference, which is based on a very strong assumption that we will weaken. In particular, we propose other formal models that differ not only in their assumptions but also in the way we mathematically represent a map. For each model, we present conditions on the decision maker's preference under which this preference can be represented by the model under concern. We also present and illustrate an elicitation process that can be used to determine their parameters. Finally, we explore some applications of the models, not only in a geographic context but more generally relevant for images analysis and comparison.
